ABOUT US

My passion for photography started when I was a little, I remember the picture like yesterday.  It was a picture taken on an old cheap camera back in the 90's of my little brother holding a garden hose, spraying water, with the sun glistening just right and the sweetest expression from him.  I knew then, that that was good picture, I just didn't know where my passion would lead me.

I have been enjoying being a photographer for over 20 years now!  Justin and I were married in July of 1996, He is a rancher and was willing to go along with my idea of making a studio out on the prairie.  Hence, Prairie Portraits, Inc.  We built a small building in 1999 at our first home place.  I shortly grew out of that and we added on on old church to more than double the size.

Through the years as my family has changed, grown, got involved in activities, my customers have grown and followed along with me.  They truly are part of an extended family.  It's not about a picture or making money.  For me, it's about making a permanent memory on print.  When years pass, and time fades, my hope is that I have captured a keepsake for you that you will treasure.

Without my family, I am nothing.  They are my everything.  I do everything for them, and they make my heart beat.  Our oldest son, Wiley, is a grown man now.  He lives in North Dakota and works as an electrician in Watford City, ND.  Saydee, is our only daughter, and is a senior at Colome High School.  She has a beautiful heart for people and grace that is unending.  She plans to attend USF next year and major in Business Administration with Accounting as an emphasis.  She plans to become a CPA.  Bromley is our perfect middle child!  He is a freshman at CHS.  Bromley has a way of filling a room with joy and laughter and brings smiles and hope to so many.  Seth is a seventh grader and just starting to enjoy football and basketball, but his love is rodeo.  He is a gritty cowboy that works very hard, he has a quit wit and is turning into a fine young man.  Jakob is the last chapter.  His sweet brown eyes and hair are contagious, and his siblings push him to be better at everything.  He is quite athletic but is the most amazing caretaker, whether it be his family or animals.  He earned his very first all around buckle at a rodeo this year to prove that he is just as good as his siblings.

My photography molds around our ranching lifestyle and ball games and rodeos.  Country life is amazing, sometimes very grueling with the weather and caretaking of animals and in the next breath it is so refreshing to see new life, sunrises and sunsets.  To raise our children on a ranch is the best gift we can give them to instill caretaking, pride, and work ethic.

I hope that I can capture your family, your child, your senior in a way that reflects their personality.  I want to make a memory last a lifetime for you.
